Our Story
Our founder, Nick Griffin, has been working in the construction industry from the age of 15. Machines and construction have always been a passion, and as soon as he was able, he left school and decided to start his career.
His father, Keith Griffin, had owned and operated his own business in Africa (where the family are from). Nick had watched his father work as a civil engineer in Africa, and then in New Zealand and some years in American Samoa. He was always interested in the projects that his father had been doing and many hours were spent talking about their own experiences and love for the industry. After spending his own early career working in New Zealand, several years in Australia, as well as the Pacific Islands, Nick was ready to start something of his own. He purchased his very first machine, a CAT 314E at the age of 24 and started his journey. With mentorship from his father and an extensive amount of growth over the years, Exaro still holds strong to its family ties.
We sadly lost Keith to a short and sudden battle with cancer in 2023. Since then, we have strived to keep his legacy alive. Our values are largely based on what Keith has instilled, and we are very grateful to him for everything he taught us. We hope to make him proud.
